Stolen From Sloan, Cause It's Pretty Awesome
I remember learning at one point that people in North America are rotten at liking themselves. It's acceptable to bash yourself, not acceptable to like yourself. So people get used to finding things they dislike, and they never do look for the good side of themselves.
So, I'm going to list things I like about myself--as many as I can.
If you're reading this, I hope you'll respond with AT LEAST five (preferably as many as you can, but this is hard to do if you're not used to it) things that you like about yourself.
Then, on a daily basis, look yourself in the mirror and remember one of those things--say it out loud, and it'll engage your whole brain. Make a mental note when you do something you're proud of. Start noticing things about yourself you like. STOP bashing your own work (if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all...). You'll start liking yourself a lot more.(And if you think this is not for you, or you can't think of something, or you feel like a fool doing it? Then it's probably *especially* for you.)
Note: Writing these, I realized how hard it is to just say "I like" without adding, "even though" or "not always" or "but..." (Especially on things that are very important to me, like writing). So I went back through and deleted all those parts. Do you feel like you're tooting your own horn? Narcissistic? GOOD.
1. I like that I'm good at writing
2. I like my eyes. They're pretty
3. I like that people feel comfortable confining me
4. I like having awesometastic friends :D
5. I like my cookinge
6. I like my ability to listen to people when my own problems are going on
7. I like that I'm opininated
8. I like that while being opininated, I manage to respect other people as well
9. I like that I'm openminded
10. I like that I tend to be attracted to people for their personality, and not looks or genders
So...yeah...couldn't think of anymore, but it's a good start, yes? ^^;
