The girl sighed softly as she stepped outside, the rain beating on her, as if it meant to consume her. Once, she would of laughed, tried to fight it, defy it, control it, but now...she just stood there, as if in defeat. She had fought her whole life, and for what? Where had it gotten her? Her crown had shattered long ago, her kingdom faded. Everything she cared for was...gone. Everything had slipped away from her. And while she could fight to get it back, like she had so many times before, she lacked the energy to do now. She was exhausted. She would only end up this way again and again, so what was the point in fighting. She removed her sword from her sheath for a moment, allowing it to glisten within the rain, as if trying to wash away blood that was no longer there...but could be. It would be tempting..to end her fight with the very thing that had helped her keep going and winning for so long. Her sword was the only friend left, so it seemed

But instead she tossed it to the ground, watching as it splattered into the mud, dirtying it. She did not, could not need it anymore. She needed to learn to fight on her own, even it was hard. She had long fought for the ones she cared for, and all it had left her was alone. She needed to learn to fight for herself. And as she stood there in the rain, her hair clinging to her face and neck, she felt a strength return to her, one from long ago.

And in that moment she laughed, daring lightening to strike. She had nothing to loose now but herself, and she was willing to risk that. What else could she do?
