There's A New Planet In The Solar System, There Is Nothing Up My Sleeve
Prop 8 and 4 are still too close to call. Nervewrecking, that.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm still estatic that Obama won, but the other stuff, like propositions and stuff are just as important as that. And when I see rights being taken away in the state I live in? It's not cool.
For those who don't know, Prop 8 is trying to reban gay marriage. In June, the supreme court of California decided gay marriage was legal. This is trying to undo that. As someone who identifies as bi, and has lots of friends who are gay or bisexual, it's very upsetting, seeing our rights being taken from us. It's not right.
Prop 4 is trying to make it so minors can't have abortions without getting parental permission. Which is all well and good in theory, but there's too much grey area. I mean, what if her dad was the one who knocked her up? Or what if her parents are the type to throw her out of the house for getting pregnant? Or how about the parents who make their daughter who got raped keep the child, even if it was going to cause her extreme emotional damage? I just...it's too much grey, and limiting abortion rights in general makes me nervous. And besides, if they have to inform their parents to get legal ones, girls might just go out and get the back alley kind so they don't have to do that, and put themselves in danger by doing so. It's not a good situation.
I know, I know, alot of people are getting tired of political talk, but too bad. This is very important to me, so I want to write about it.
But as my first class was canceled, I think I might grab a nap before my next one +_+
